Ancient Words
The first time I heard this modern hymn I was captivated by the words and the music...and then was blessed to have my sister give me the song on a CD called Midnight Cry by Christian Edition this last Christmas. You can go here to listen to a short piece of the hymn...may you be inspired as I have been by the words of this hymn.
ANCIENT WORDS
by Lynn DeShazo
Holy words long preserved
For our walk in this world
They resound with God's own heart
O let the ancient words impart
Words of life, words of hope
Give us strength, help us cope
In this world, where'er we roam
Ancient words will guide us home
Chorus:
Ancient words, ever true
Changing me and changing you
We have come with open hearts
O let the ancient words impart
Holy words of our faith
Handed down to this age
Came to us through sacrifice
O heed the faithful words of Christ!
Martyrs' blood stains each page
They have died for this faith
Hear them cry through the years,
"Heed these words and hold them dear!"

Words of life, words of hope -- yes, these words speak of God's Word, our strength and our shield -- and the tune is beautiful.
Wow, love the lyrics!
Wasn't able to hear the melody, but lyrics *are* inspirational.
Wonderful words, beautiful words, wonderful words of life! Thanks for sharing.
It's good to see you on again ... I listened to the short piece of that hymn, and it's beautiful! So peaceful, and I love the lyrics ... I'm so glad you shared them all from the song. I may have to get a copy of the CD myself! Hope things are going well for you ... you're often in my thoughts and prayers! Blessings on your weekend! <><
I was thinking of you, wondering how you were doing. We're enjoying some snow here in our area, even though I've already seen some robins! Maybe a sign of an early spring?! You have a wonderful week! Blessings ~ Deborah <><
