Jesus Saviour Pilot Me
This is the song in my heart today...
I would encourage you to read the words slowly,
let the truths sink deep down into your heart.
Jesus Saviour Pilot Me
By Edward Hopper
Jesus, Savior, pilot me
Over life’s tempestuous sea;
Unknown waves before me roll,
Hiding rock and treacherous shoal.
Chart and compass come from Thee;
Jesus, Savior, pilot me.While th’Apostles’ fragile bark
Struggled with the billows dark,
On the stormy Galilee,
Thou didst walk upon the sea;
And when they beheld Thy form,
Safe they glided through the storm.Though the sea be smooth and bright,
Sparkling with the stars of night,
And my ship’s path be ablaze
With the light of halcyon days,
Still I know my need of Thee;
Jesus, Savior, pilot me.When the darkling heavens frown,
And the wrathful winds come down,
And the fierce waves, tossed on high,
Lash themselves against the sky,
Jesus, Savior, pilot me,
Over life’s tempestuous sea.As a mother stills her child,
Thou canst hush the ocean wild;
Boisterous waves obey Thy will,
When Thou sayest to them, “Be still!”
Wondrous Sovereign of the sea,
Jesus, Savior, pilot me.When at last I near the shore,
And the fearful breakers roar
’Twixt me and the peaceful rest,
Then, while leaning on Thy breast,
May I hear Thee say to me,
“Fear not, I will pilot thee.”May He pilot our lives today and may our lives forever be inextricably bound up with His.

Beautiful thoughts! If we just let Him, He will pilot us and we need have no fears, no doubts, no concerns! Isn't this the peace the passes understanding?
What a beatiful song! What awesome words! I so enjoyed every word and it is all so very true.
Oh, what a beautiful post! Both the words and the photos. I found myself humming along in my head ~
Thank God we can have a Pilot in the storms of life -- One who knows where the hindrances lie and can guide us safely around them; One who can calm the fears that come from difficult circumstances; One who can give us peace in the midst of the storms!
Amen! May it be so!

Yes I did take the photos - it is mid-winter, dry and bleak where I live, but on birthday last month my wonderful husband took the day off and took me about 90 minutes drive away to take these photographs at the marina on a large lake here and I had such fun taking them - it was a wonderful gift!
Great post. Wonderful pictures. Don't you just love the hymns? I like contemporary Christian music too, and just about any music, but there is just something about these hymns. So many of them were born out of the writers' troubles and told about how God calmed them and helped them and guided them.
