  • Take Delight

    I can of
mine own self do nothing…I seek not mine own will, but the will of the Father…John 5:30  Jesus delighted in doing the will of the Father…His life, His sustenance was found in doing His Father’s will…He is our example…

Synonyms for Delight: Cheer, enliven, elate, exhilarate,
gladden, inspirit, animate, raise the spirits, inspire; perk up; put in good
    humor; cheer the heart, rejoice the heart;
    give pleasure.

Transformation begins in the mind. As a man thinketh in his heart, so is he...

I can choose to delight in doing the will of my Heavenly
    Father for His ways are
perfect, holy, productive, happy, joyful, filled with
love, life-giving, healing, energizing and of eternal value.

I can be excited about a new day that I can
walk with Him, a new day He will lead me through, a new day of opportunities, a
new day of growth – physically, spiritually, mentally, relationally.  All found in Him and all mine – free for the
taking if I will just come to Him.

What do I have to lose?
Not much and certainly nothing that compares in value to what I stand to
gain.  I lose only my own selfish ways,
my cluttered living and muddled thinking, fear and frustration, and transitory
    pleasures.
“God does not require us to
give up anything that it is in our bests interests to retain. In all that He does He has the well-being of
    His children in view.” SC46

Why do we focus on and fear what we will lose instead of taking
delight in and focusing on what we desire to gain?

I am choosing delight today – will you join me?

  • Oh thank you for this post!  There is so much to muse on.......why do we live life so downcast and make it so burdensome at times when we have it all with a Father who delights in us and wants to do what's best for us always?  Does it all come down to a lack of faith?  Blessed Lord's Day to you.

  • Wonderful Sabbath gifts....and three cheers for Thompson Chain Reference Bibles!

  • A wonderful post, Coleen! Yes, I'm joining in with you! How can we not choose to delight in our Heavenly Father!  I enjoyed reading through the Sabbath gifts from Saturday ... and #24 is a delight to me!  Also, thank you for posting the One Thousand Gifts--A Holy Experience website ... a 'gratitude journal' sounds like a good thing to begin ... I do believe I'll start on my list very soon!  He delights in blessing those who live with a heart of gratitude!  And, thank you for coming by ... also for subscribing to me this past Friday. You have a blessed week, delighting every day, in Him!
